Euforia (not to be confused with the similarly-named Euphoria) is a sativa-dominant strain that offers exactly what its name promises. It was created by the Amsterdam-based Dutch Passion Seed Company in the mid-90s as part of a Skunk breeding effort -- one which also yielded strains like Skunk Passion and Orange Bud. Euforia’s buzzy effects earned it the title of 2nd Best Sativa in the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup and Best Medical Cannabis in the 2015 Highlife Cup, both held in Amsterdam.
Euforia offers large, wispy flowers that cling together in elongated formations. The loose leaves have a somewhat fluffy texture and can easily be torn away from their central stems. The leaves a pale shade of sea green and are shot through with curly orange pistils. A coating of trichomes gives these buds a silvery-white sheen and make them very hard to break up without a quality grinder. Despite it Skunk parentage, Euforia has less of a funk than you’d expect -- instead, the cured flowers have an earthy, fruity aroma with just a slightly sour undertone. When combusted, Euforia burns with a smoke smoke that tastes woodsy and fruity on the exhale.
The high from Euforia takes hold quickly, striking smokers with a pressure around the temples and eyelids. Its bracing energy can be put to use with activities like exercising or working on creative and analytical tasks. Alternatively, smokers can kick back and enjoy the uplifting euphoric effects. Because it leaves consumers more wired than sedated, Euforia is recommended for daytime and not nighttime use. The strain may also have some benefits for medical cannabis patients. Its lasting sense of intense focus can be of use to those with attention deficit disorders. Furthermore, he bud’s uplifting vibes can help those with mild to moderate stress or depression to spend their time more consciously and presently. Because its cerebral properties may lead to recursive patterns of thinking, Euforia is not recommended for those who are prone to panic or who have a low THC tolerance.
Dutch Passion has made seeds of Euforia available for sale online. This strain can be a good choice for newcomers to cultivation. Its strong sativa genetics, perfected through deliberate and advanced breeding, are especially hardy and can be resistant to adverse conditions like temperature variations. As is common for sativa varieties, plants can have a very long flowering time of about 9 weeks when grown indoors; they are ready for harvest in late October or early November when grown outdoors. The strain offers high yields of about 37 to 55 grams (or 1.3 to 1.9 ounces) of flower per square foot of plant.
