About Blue Gelato
History & Genetics
Barney’s Farm’s Blue Gelato strain, also known as Blue Gelato #41, is a sweet hybrid with a lot to offer. The sour blueberry aroma is an ideal lazy day strain that mixes Blueberry and the infamous Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies strains to create something new and truly delicious (some sources report their phenotypes had Sherbert genetics mixed in there as well). From the fruity terpene profile to the psychedelic, high-minded clarity of each drag, Blue Gelato rarely disappoints. The Netherlands wouldn’t be the same without it.
Appearance, Aroma, & Flavor
Most Blue Gelato phenotypes flower in blues and purples with fluffy cone-colored nugs, long amber hairs, and crystal trichomes tinted with cyan blue. The plant is known among growers for its thick, sweet resin that practically drips off its flowers.
Blue Gelato’s terpenes include Carene, Pinene, and Ocimene. Carene provides the citrus oil aroma, with almost a tinge of rosemary. Pinene brings in the scent of the herbal outdoors like a breath of pine. The combination is like an earthy morning glass of grapefruit juice or an herb-infused tea. Ocimene re-emphasizes the wood flavors. The full profile is softly sour, a mix of citrus, blueberry, herbs, and woods.
The THC level is as high as 29%, promoting a feeling of full-bodied clarity and even heavy sedation. The clear-headed feeling is perfect for lazy afternoons sitting around at home, enjoying your psychedelic fruit cocktail. You’ll feel clear-headed and a bit sedated but also a little energetic. The combination of clarity, calmness, focus, energy, and groundedness makes Blue Gelato a great strain for yoga and other relaxing activities.
As you relax in your sour exhale, you will feel your depression and stress leave you. The calming feeling can treat ADD and ADHD symptoms as well as mellow out mood swings. The light citrus energy can even help you recover from fatigue. For beautiful heaviness, Blue Gelato is the snack of choice.
Blue Gelato is easy to source from growers and easy to grow, which makes it a choice strain for novice growers to experiment with. It flourishes inside and outside with a fantastically short flowering time of no more than 50 days.
GROWERS TIP: Blue Gelato can grow up to 200cm in height per plant, with 3000g of usable bud if you treat it well. Growers who use their crop to source concentrates can make great use of Blue Gelato due to its high-volume resin production. This also makes it visually beautiful in your garden. Just remember to chop the plant in the second half of October if you grow it outdoors to control its growing structure.
