About Ultraviolet OG

Ultraviolet OG, not to be confused with normal old Ultraviolet, is a hybrid strain that leans heavily toward Indica (80/20), made from a cross between Purple Indica and Face Off OG. Its purplish appearance, from its leaves down to its lavender-tinted crystals, is a signpost to its bright, grapey flavor. Remember that this strain isn’t a newcomer – it’s a bona fide classic of Washington/Oregon bud-growing that goes back to the 80s. Its lineage and its reputation are as rich as any strain out there.

This strain used to go by other names like Seattle Purple and Purple Indica, imported from Afghani landrace strains like Afghani Hash Plant. Back in the day, it earned the nickname “CalGhani'' to describe its multi-national identity. Once Seattle got ahold of it, this strain took off, becoming as famous for its short growing stature as its flavor. Ultraviolet OG is a bushy little plant, with lumpy round nugs like dark purple pebbles, lavender leaves and pistils, and a rich coat of purple-tinted trichomes. Harvest time for this little beauty is long, about 81 days.

Its terpene profile is rich and varied, including Myrcene, Bisabolol, Limonene, Terpineol, Phellandrene, and Caryophyllene. This produces a flavor that’s flowery-sweet on the inhale and progresses to spicier, herbal tastes, ending on a sour note. You’ll get flavors of grape mixed with spicy earth and an aroma that includes lemon, pine, and more on this strain.

As you smoke, Ultraviolet OG relaxes you, making you feel heavy and happy. This state starts off calming and mellow at first but before long becomes hazy and heavy. You’ll feel distracted, wandering, disoriented, and stoned. Nothing will move you from your couch – this is a strain that prides itself on its sedating abilities. Those who give in to it (assuming they have a choice) eventually find themselves in a state of sleeping peace. Ultraviolet OG uses every bit of its 18% THC level to push through your stress, anxiety, and mood swings and knock you out.

As a result, Ultraviolet OG is best paired with an evening when you have time to relax and sleep. The strain is great for getting over a hangover since it’s so calming and mind-elevating. Side effects could include dry mouth and eyes, sleepiness, and feelings of ultimate happiness.
