About Doctor Doctor

Doctor Doctor is a pure sativa strain that’s high in CBD. Created by Washington State-based producers Vodis USA, this bud is actually a selectively-bred phenotype of the African landrace strain Malawi. Offering a fruity, berry-accented flavor profile, Doctor Doctor has a CBD to THC ratio of about 20:1; as such, it’s a great choice for those seeking holistic medical treatment without a psychoactive “high”.

Like its forebear Malawi, Doctor Doctor sets itself apart with large, well-formed flowers. These buds adhere in elongated, column-like formations that bear some resemblance to other sativa landrace varieties like Thai. They have a relatively loose, wispy internal structure and long, thin leaves. The leaves themselves are a dark shade of forest green and are punctuated by orange (and occasionally, pink) pistils. Because Doctor Doctor is engineered to have lower levels of THC, its flowers have a relatively dearthy of sticky, cloudy trichomes.

When properly cured, Doctor Doctor gives off a fruity aroma, characterized by distinct notes of citrus and berry. A deeper whiff may detect some tangy, almost fermented odors as well. Grinding up or pulling apart this strain’s wispy buds, meanwhile, yields a floral, Haze-like scent. When combusted in a pipe or a joint, Doctor Doctor burns with a slightly skunky smoke that can irritate the palate and sinuses on the inhale. On the exhale, this smoke has sweet citrus-like flavors.

Because it has higher levels of CBD than THC, Doctor Doctor doesn’t offer the kind of psychedelic mental experience that many recreational cannabis users may be seeking. Instead, the strain’s effect is more subtle and physically-rooted. Up to an hour after smoking, consumers may become aware of a pervasive sense of relaxation -- they may experience a release from any troublings knots of muscular tension and might even find themselves able to breathe more deeply and restoratively. Because it comes with little to psychoactive stimulation, Doctor Doctor allows users to maintain their sobriety and mental acuity. As such, the strain is appropriate for use at almost any time of day.

Doctor Doctor’s medical benefits include a general reduction of stress and tension, a quality that may be of use to those suffering from mild to moderate stress or depression. On the physical end of the spectrum, the strain can be an effective analgesic for patients living with chronic pain conditions like lupus or arthritis. Anti-inflammatory properties, meanwhile, can take the sting out of everyday complaints like headaches, cramps, and nausea. In high enough doses (and properly relaxed circumstances), Doctor Doctor may even be a solid sleep aid to counteract insomnia. Because it comes with a diminished risk of paranoia and obsessive thinking, this bud is a good option for patients who have a low THC tolerance. Unfortunately for prospective home growers, Vodis has not made seeds of Doctor Doctor available for sale online. Instead, those looking to cultivate this strain may be able to obtain clippings from mature, healthy plants; these can be fostered as genetically identical “clones” and may be grown in controlled indoor conditions or outdoors in hot, humid climates. Its pure sativa background suggests that Doctor Doctor grows quite tall and branchy, possibly requiring indoor gardeners to keep its height in check with regular pruning. This strain may flower anywhere within 9 to 11 weeks when grown indoors.
