1. Wedding Cake

Also known as Pink Cookies, Wedding Cake is a slightly indica-dominant hybrid cross between Cherry Pie and Girl Scout Cookies. Wedding Cake can contain up to 27% THC and 1% CBG, though it contains trace amounts of CBD.    Patients turn to Wedding Cake’s therapeutic profile for various conditions, including chronic pain, arthritis, insomnia, nausea, and mood disorders. It’s best to enjoy Wedding Cake at night, but don’t worry — you can still function socially before drifting to sleep, at least according to this review: “This stuff gave me a really euphoric and happy/giddy head high that also made it much easier to socialize (I have a lot of social anxiety, and this stuff is a godsend for that).”

2. Gorilla Glue

It’s no surprise to us that Gorilla Glue makes this list, given its impressive genetics and chemical profile. Gorilla Glue is a balanced hybrid cross between Chem’s Sister and Chocolate Diesel. One of the most potent strains around, expect an average THC test of 28%.   Gorilla Glue is not for the THC-sensitive consumer, but it’s an excellent choice for anyone with a high THC tolerance or chronic pain. According to this fan and patient, Gorilla Glue is great for sleep but suitable for daytime use as well: “By far my favorite strain. This strain is my go-to. I love the fact that it makes me laugh for the first hour or so then the body high hits and the giggles are still there which is awesome.”

3. Blue Dream

If you’re looking for a perfectly balanced hybrid with lots of THC and enough CBD to make an impact, Blue Dream is your strain. With a THC average of 27% and a CBD average of 2%, Blue Dream delivers the powerful effects of both cannabinoids.   Although Blue Dream has more THC than most strains, it’s suitable for daytime use (especially if you have a high tolerance to THC). Blue Dream users report the ability to focus on tasks, work on new projects, and experience relief from pain, anxiety, and nausea.  Take it from this fan:  “I'm more of an Indica smoker. But Blue Dream is my GO-TO for anxiety. I can't recommend this one enough if you have bad anxiety. This is in my top 5 favorite strains of all time.”

4. OG Kush

In 2021, OG Kush lived up to its mighty name yet again. A legendary hybrid cross between Hindu Kush and Chem Dawg, this sativa-dominant strain has fans worldwide. Containing an average of 27% THC and a significant quantity of myrcene, OG Kush packs a powerful (and earth-scented) punch.

Patients turn to OG Kush for pain and nausea relief but may experience dry mouth and mild dizziness. The relaxation promotes focus, as this reviewer notes:  “Love this strain. For me, it’s such a clear-minded, uplifting, and worry-free high. ADHD is totally gone with this strain!”

5. Gelato

An explosively popular strain, Gelato is the creation of cannabis breeding legend, Mr. Sherbinski. Containing an average of 25% THC, the 50/50 hybrid cross between Thin Mint Cookies and Sunset Sherbert delivers its relaxing effects in a plume of citrus-scented smoke.  Gelato promotes relaxation, creativity, and socialization — it’s no surprise that many Gelato fans use the strain to manage social anxiety and depression and improve their moods. Take it from this patient’s review:  “Gelato is so uplifting and a positive high. It helps me strive even though I am a brain cancer survivor!”

6. Jack Herrer

In the mid-’80s, cannabis activity Jack Herrer released the book, The Emperor Wears No Clothes to expose the injustice and irrationality of cannabis prohibition. Named in honor of the activist, the Jack Herrer strain brings the same uplifting energy the man is remembered for.  If you’re looking for a strain to complement your morning routine, Jack Herrer is an excellent place to start. Slightly sativa-dominant with 24% THC, this strain produces the kind of high this review describes:   “Wonderful taste. Gives you just the right amount of energy to get you through the day while also helping manage anxiety and stress.”

7. Northern Lights

If you think your THC tolerance is high, put it to the test with Northern Lights. Often containing 30% or more THC, this mostly indica strain (95%) may be your match.

Patients turn to Northern Lights for pain, insomnia, and anxiety relief. But you may want to make sure you’ve got a bed nearby before consuming this strain. This reviewer says it succinctly: “Perfect evening strain. Relaxation is King. Works very well for insomnia. Smooth, powerful, and effective.”

8. Skywalker OG

Skywalker OG is an indica-dominant cross between OG Kush (also a fan favorite in 2021) and Skywalker. With an average of 26% THC and a bouquet expressing aromas of myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene, this spicy-scented strain is not for the faint of heart.  Skywalker OG fans tend to consume at night because of the strain’s sedating effects. Trust the force, and you may enjoy relief from insomnia, depression, anxiety, and nausea. Here’s what one Skywalker OG fan said: “Best high I've ever had. 9. Green Crack (Green Cush)

The name says it all. If you want a wake-and-bake strain, Green Crack is the one. The sativa dominant hybrid got its name from none by the Snoop Dog himself because of its energizing effects.  Containing close to 24% THC, Green Crack is a cross between the infamous Skunk #1 and landrace strain, Afghani. A genetic history like that explains this strain’s enduring popularity. For people like this reviewer, it’s a life saver:  “Green Crack is hands down the best strain I've come across. It helps with my Rheumatoid Arthritis, and it gives me the energy to get up and complete my workday. It even allows for enough energy to do something after work too! Definitely recommend this as one of the best sativa strains out there!”

10. Girl Scout Cookies

Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) is an award-winning strain that’s been at the top of cannabis popularity charts since its warm welcome to the world by number one fan, Wiz Khalifa. An indica-dominant cross between OG Kush and Durban Poison, this Berner Cookies creation contains an average of 28% THC and 1% CBD.

GSC enthusiasts will tell you that this strain promotes creativity, relaxation, camaraderie, and an overwhelmingly positive mood. Take it from this connoisseur:  “When this strain first hit, some years back, it blew my mind. It seemed to have a perfect balance of what I was looking for in every aspect of cannabis. It’s best used in minute amounts for low tolerance or inexperienced users, though a great ride for someone willing to commit to possibly tripping out a little. The indica comes through in the end, lulling you to sleep, if you want.” We can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for the world of cannabis!
