Northwest Territories Possession, Purchasing, and Consumption Rules

If you are 19 years old or older in the Northwest Territories, you can legally purchase and possess a maximum of 30 grams of cannabis in public. You can also grow a maximum of 4 plants in your home.  Purchasing cannabis in store: You can purchase cannabis flower from one of these licensed liquor and cannabis retail stores.  Purchasing cannabis online: If you’d like to have cannabis flower delivered to you, you can order it through the Northwest Territories Liquor and Cannabis Commission’s website. You’ll have to create an account to order your product. Cannabis will only be delivered to addresses located in the Northwest Territories.  Consumption laws: You can consume cannabis in the privacy of your home and in some public spaces including on trails, roadways, and parks when not operating a motor vehicle and when these spaces are not being used for a public event. Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal. 

Licensing Rules for Retailers

The Northwest Territories Liquor and Cannabis Commission (NTLCC) is responsible for retail cannabis regulation. As of now, liquor stores sell cannabis. However, the law permits the operation of private retailers.
