Newfoundland and Labrador Possession, Purchasing, and Consumption Rules

The minimum age of purchase in Newfoundland and Labrador is 19. You can possess up to 30 grams of cannabis on you at a time while in public. You can also grow up to four cannabis plants in your household.  Purchasing cannabis in-store: If you are the legal age, you can purchase cannabis products including flower, concentrates, edibles, and topicals at one of these Newfoundland and Labrador licensed cannabis retail stores.  Purchasing cannabis online: Cannabis can be purchased online from Cannabis NL. You can create an account on the website for quicker checkout, or you can just checkout as a guest. It can take up to nine days for your weed to be delivered to you. You can only utilize this resource if you have a Newfoundland and Labrador address.   Consumption laws: Public consumption is prohibited, but you can smoke at home as long as it’s okay with whoever owns the property. Driving while high is illegal. 

Newfoundland and Labrador Licensing Rules for Retailers

Cannabis retail is regulated by the Newfoundland Liquor Corporation (NLC). The NLC uses a selective bidding process based on geographic location to award retail licenses.   Currently, there are no license openings, but this may change if the NLC determines that more retail stores are needed.
