About Skunk 47
If Skunk #1 is pungent, just imagine how bad Skunk 47 smells. This indica is the product of World of Seeds, the creators of Obsession and Kilimanjaro, and is a cross between Skunk #1 and popular hybrid AK-47. In addition to inheriting its parents’ powerful aroma, Skunk 47 offers heavy relaxation that’s better suited to the evening than daytime use. Its THC is consistently measured at high levels of between 19% and 27%.
Skunk 47’s buds are marked by a small to medium size and a distinctly tapered formation: these flowers have a narrow base that flares out to a rounded middle section and culminates in a pointed tip. They hold an indica-typical bud structure with a compact core and tightly-coiled leaves. These leaves tend to be a dark shade of forest green and are threaded through with yellow and pale orange pistils. Finally, translucent white trichomes cover the inner and outer surfaces of the flowers and make them very hard to break up by hand.
As you might expect, Skunk 47’s flowers give off a powerfully skunky aroma on initial inspection. This rich, diesel-tinged funk also has some fruity, berry-like accents lurking underneath, though. Meanwhile, grinding up the dense flowers gives off notes of dirt and hash. When burnt in a pipe or a joint, Skunk 47 gives off a harsh, palate-tickling smoke. This thick smoke bears flavors of skunk and sour fruit on the exhale.
Oddly enough for a strain with primarily indica effects, Skunk 47 hits quickly. Soon after exhaling its strong, acrid smoke, consumers may notice a heavy feeling in their limbs and eyelids. Thoughts may begin to flow more freely, dissolving any usual inhibitions on creativity and propriety. While not entirely cerebral or focused, this mindset can be a good way to keep the conversation rolling in social situations. For the most part, though, Skunk 47’s high is physical, pulling users into a state of calm that pushes any outside stresses or preoccupations to the margins. Smokers that may have been active before may suddenly lose their energy and seek out a comfortable horizontal surface on which to stretch out. Just as Skunk 47 begins to mellow users out, it may create some changes in their perception of sensory stimuli. Certain colors or sounds may seem to take on a new depth or dimension, while slight visual distortions like a flattening of depth perception are also possible. Because of these psychedelic effects on the senses, Skunk 47 can be a good bud to enjoy while eating a rich meal or listening to some spacey, atmospheric music. As time passes or as dosage is increased, the strain’s physically soothing properties may become even more pronounced, sometimes leading to a sense of numbness in the limbs or a feeling of disconnection between different parts of the body. While this phenomenon may be temporarily troubling, smokers can comfortably settle in under the right circumstances, content to let the outside world dissolve as they melt into their surroundings. Eventually, Skunk 47 can cause couchlock and even lull already-susceptible consumers to sleep. Because of its almost exclusively relaxing and soporific vibe, Skunk 47 is best enjoyed as a nighttime treat.
Skunk 47’s strong, almost narcotic sedation makes it valuable to medical cannabis patients as well. The strain’s ability to filter out negative thoughts and emotions makes it a good way to temporarily soothe stress, depression, anxiety, and even PTSD. It can also dull physical pain, whether it’s due to chronic conditions like arthritis or to common everyday irritations like nausea. At high enough doses, Skunk 47 can even put insomniacs into a deep, fulfilling sleep. Because it is not known to bring about intense bouts of obsessive thinking, this strain is a good option for patients who are prone to panic or who have a low THC tolerance.
Seeds of Skunk 47 are available for sale online. A resilient plant, it can be a good grow for newcomers to cannabis cultivation. Once obtained, the strain can be fostered indoors or out, although outdoor success calls for a hot and humid climate. Crops tend to grow short and bushy and can be easily accommodated indoors. Skunk 47 flowers within 8 to 9 weeks when grown indoors and is ready for harvest in early October when grown outdoors.
More appropriate for experienced than for total THC newbies, Skunk 47 is a solid option for heavy-duty relaxation. Beware if you’re toking it in public, though, as its pungency can carry for quite a distance.
