About PVC OG

PVC OG is a hybrid with an even balance between mental and physical effects. Rather than polyvinyl chloride, the material used to make durable industrial plastic, PVC in this case stands for Positive Vibrations Collective, the SoCal-based breeding group from whom this strain originates. PVC OG, whose genetics are not well-documented, has an earthy aroma and a THC content of between 15% and 20%.

PVC OG is distinguished by medium-sized flowers that have an elongated, almost cylindrical formation. The have a decidedly indica structure, with small leaves that spiral densely inward. These leaves are a vivid spring green and, in some cases, are punctuated by flashes of purple; these latter hues are the result of pigments called anthocyanins which can become activated by cold weather during the growing process. Finally, these already-colorful flowers are threaded through with yellow pistils and dotted with white trichomes.

When properly cured, PVC OG’s flowers emit a dank, earthy aroma redolent of wet soil and leaves. A closer inspection may also detect some light floral notes. Meanwhile, grinding up these buds releases more of a sour, skunky odor. When PVC OG is burnt in a pipe or a joint, it gives off a thick, somewhat harsh smoke that may cause coughing or watery eyes. On the exhale, this heavy smoke has a rich, incense-like flavor.

The high from PVC OG comes on relatively quickly, striking smokers within five minutes of ingestion. At first, it can result in a feeling of pressure around the temples and lower forehead; many also describe a flushing in the cheeks. As these sensations die down, users tend to notice that their thoughts are moving more quickly than usual or that they’ve taken on a new significance. Ideas that might not otherwise command much attention may suddenly seem fascinating. Similarly, PVC OG can trigger a sort of free association that may illuminate previously unconsidered connections between certain concepts. This plugged-in mindset may allow motivated consumers to accomplish work on detailed or analytical tasks; it may also enable imaginative work on creative projects or brainstorming sessions. Meanwhile, smokers who aren’t feeling quite so productive can enjoy PVC OG’s pleasant mental buzz while going about an otherwise boring agenda.

After an hour or so, PVC OG’s physical effects become more and more apparent. Eyelids may begin to droop and limbs may begin to sag as users are subsumed by feelings of relaxation. While this strain’s head high persists and smokers may still be able to maintain lucidity, they tend to find themselves stripped of energy. Instead, PVC OG’s later stages are well-suited to lounging around with friends while snacking or kicking off a binge-watching session. Because of its slow decrescendo in energy levels, PVC OG is recommended for late afternoon or early evening consumption.

This strain’s far-reaching effects can have as many medical applications as it has recreational ones. Its initially cerebral mood can help those with attention deficit disorders to maintain focus. PVC OG’s upbeat vibe may also temporarily alleviate the troubling symptom of stress and depression. Physically speaking, the strain may also soothe physical pain, whether it’s due to minor, everyday inflammation or to chronic conditions like arthritis. It may also induce hunger, making it a potential appetite enhancement for patients dealing with digestive disorders or with invasive treatments like chemotherapy. Because its intense patterns of thinking may lead to some paranoia in the wrong set and setting, PVC OG is not recommended for cannabis newcomers, especially those who are predisposed to panic.

Seeds of PVC OG are not available for sale online. Instead, those looking to cultivate the strain at home should take clippings from mature, healthy specimens; these can be grown as genetically identical clones and may thrive indoors or outdoors in a hot and humid climate. PVC OG’s dense, indica-inflected flowers suggest that its crops have a short and bushy silhouette; as such, gardeners may need to occasionally trim away any broad, light-blocking fan leaves in order to encourage any low-growing nodes to flourish. The strain’s indica buds also suggest that its plants have a shorter flowering time of between 8 to 9 weeks.

An excellent all-purpose smoke, PVC OG is a welcome addition to the stash of both indica and sativa lovers.
