About Moonbeam

Moonbeam is a reportedly pure indica strain that has extremely relaxing effects. Developed by Snoop Dogg’s cultivation company, Leafs by Snoop, this bud’s genetic background has been kept proprietary. Moonbeam delivers a surprisingly complex flavor to accentuate its intense body high. Its THC content has been measured at between 19% and an impressive 28%.

Moonbeam’s flowers are on the smaller side and adhere in tight, popcorn-like clusters. The pebbly buds have a compact internal indica structure; the leaves are a yellowish-green and are threaded through with corkscrewing brown pistils. The chunky flowers are coated in a layer of resinous white trichomes that account for their potency.

Initial inspection of buds will pick up on earthy aromas, redolent of wet soil and dry leaves. A deeper whiff will detect some sweet, fruity accents that brighten up the strain’s overall impression. When flowers are broken apart or ground up they release a stinging, chemical odor, similar to household cleaning products, but when burning it in a pipe or joint gives off an uncommonly smooth and palatable smoke that has a citrus-tinged and slightly astringent flavor on the exhale.

As with most other indicas, Moonbeam’s high can be a creeper that may take 10 to 15 minutes to arrive. Once it strikes, the strain hits like a wave, pulling users into a calm, subdued state; an initial head rush may come with some face-focused sensations that eventually give way to mental stimulation. Thoughts may seem to take on a new gravity or complexity and contribute to lively conversations in social settings. Additionally, Moonbeam can facilitate bouts of creative thinking to help with open ended artistic projects or brainstorming sessions. In certain situations, this bud’s head high can take the shape of sensory distortion, leading to trippy phenomena like a feeling of time passing more slowly.

As these effects progress, they take on more of a physical character. A ripple of relaxation can begin to radiate through the core, undoing any knots of muscular tension. At this point, consumers may feel their limbs and eyelids begin to sag and may want to stretch out on the closest comfortable surface. Those who are running errands or otherwise out and about may want to make a dash for home. Because of its eventual decline into full-bodied relaxation, Moonbeam is recommended for consumption beginning in the late afternoon or evening.

Moonbeam’s sedative effects can be valuable to medical patients as well. The strain’s soothing, serene mood can be a temporary antidote to the harsh symptoms of stress, depression, and anxiety. It can help take the sting out of physical pain that’s temporary due to minor injury, or a chronic condition like COPD or lupus. The anti-inflammatory properties can help relieve some of the severity of everyday discomforts like cramps or headaches. For the sufficiently relaxed, Moonbeam can counteract insomnia, pulling smokers into a deep and fulfilling sleep. This strain is good for patients who are prone to paranoia or have a low THC tolerance because doesn’t often lead to intense, obsessive states of mind.

Leafs by Snoop does not appear to have made seeds available online. Instead, those looking to grow at home should obtain clippings from mature, healthy samples; these clippings can be fostered as “clones” and grown indoors or outdoors in a semi-humid, Mediterranean-like climate. Although we don’t have much information on cultivating this strain, its indica roots suggest that plants will grow short and bushy, and have a relatively brief flowering time of eight to nine weeks.

A delicious and relaxing smoke, Moonbeam is one bud that’s best saved for end-of-day use. Its deeply relaxing effects make the strain a must-try for indica lovers.
