About Mando

The Mando strain is named after the main character of The Mandalorian TV show on Disney Plus. The Star Wars character comes off harsh on the outside but sweet and soft on the inside, just like the real Mando strain. According to the grower, Solfire Gardens, a breeder from LA brought the cut to their place, calling it Yoda and insisting on it being explored further. This is why the genetic heritage of Mando is almost completely unknown (and also why information on the strain’s THC levels is so scarce). However, we’ll give you everything we could dig up about this elusive bud named after a galaxy far far away (but grown right here).

Solfire Gardens was founded in 2015 in the Pacific Northwest by a biology student from the University of Washington. Since then, the breeder has been on fire with some popular strains, including Mega Mind, Bahama Berry, and Mind Melter. They list the Mando strain as having vigorous vegetative growth, a short stretch in the flowering phase, a mid-heavy yield, and a fragrance of “sweet octane.” Fruit and fuel.

The father of the strain is unknown, though it may be Yoda OG. The mother on the other hand was most likely Bahama Mama, meaning the kid, as Mando called Baby Yoda (aka Grogu), has a rich lineage of fruity favorites, including Tropicana Cookies (likely the F2 cut), Girl Scout Cookies, Tangie, Black Banana, and the S1 cut of F1 Durban. Go back far enough, and the strain traces its literal roots in the landrace strains of Afghanistan.

The result is blue and gray buds, with a thick and frosty layer of trichomes and a pungent, fuel-infested aroma. Around the edges of its cold appearance, pink hues shine through, making it a subtle centerpiece in any garden lucky enough to have it. According to the breeder, the strain is easy enough to grow even though the bluer the plant, the more the phenotype seems to struggle, requiring more nutrition and growing time to produce a suitable yield. The plant that results is a narrow tower of clumped, snowy buds with dull amber pistils and dark, blue-purple leaves.

Like Bahama Mama, Mando’s funky fruity impression leaves users feeling energized, creative, and focused, ready to take on the Empire. We recommend the strain for times when you want to work out or get some chores done, wrestle with a creative hobby, or hang out with friends and enjoy the empowering yet stern presence of your friendly neighborhood Mandalorian.
