About Kriss Kross

Kriss Kross is a hard-to-find strain. While it may have started as a clone-only hybrid in the U.K. its original breeders -- as well as its genetic background -- are not documented. Even so, Kriss Kross is a desirable hybrid, with an even balanced between mental and physical effects and a bold, fruity flavor. Its THC content has been measured at between 14% and 21%.

Kriss Kross stands out with medium to large-sized flowers that maintain an elongated, spindly formation. These buds seem to be more sativa than indica-inflected, with a loose and piecey structure and leaves that tend to spiral outward and away from each other. The leaves themselves are a deep olive green and are twisted through with brown and orange pistils. Finally, icy trichomes coat the flowers, giving them a slightly white sheen when seen from afar.

When properly cured, Kriss Kross gives off an earthy aroma with sour overtones, almost like rotting fruit. A second whiff reveals notes of grape and berry. Grinding up these buds gives off a somewhat herbal and medicinal scent, similar to Haze; there are almost no hashy, incense-like odors, potentially ruling out Afghani in the bud’s genetics. When burnt, Kriss Kross gives off a very smooth and easily palatable smoke. This smoke has a rich and creamy mouthfeel and tastes like sweet berries on the exhale.

Kriss Kross may take some time before revealing itself to smokers, ultimately arriving with a sweeping, possibly dizzying head rush. Users may experience some faint pressure in the temples as well as in increase in salivation. As they become accustomed to these sensations, though, smokers may notice that they are more mentally engaged with their surroundings, stopping to dwell on ideas or stimuli that might not have been as interesting when they were sober. Thoughts may also flow from one to the next in free association. If consumers are properly motivated, this mental stimulation can be a good way to work on detailed, analytical tasks. Kriss Kross may also inspire work on creative, open-ended projects or brainstorming sessions. Within an hour or so after the high’s onset, these cerebral properties begin to fade and blend into more relaxing, embodied effects. As they settle into the newly soothing vibes, consumers may feel a relief from any points of deeply-held muscular tension; they may also find themselves better able to breathe fully and deeply. Kriss Kross’s body high isn’t so strong that it’s guaranteed to lay you out flat, though; those looking to take advantage of the bud’s combination of physical and mental stimulation might find that they can enjoy some light to moderate exercise. At these later stages (and with the right company), the strain can even be an effective aphrodisiac. Because of its gradual decline in energy levels, Kriss Kross is best consumed from late afternoon through the evening; if toked right before bed, it’s likely to keep smokers wired and awake.

Kriss Kross can also have several applications for medical cannabis patients. The feeling of focus that comes with its onset can help those with attention deficit disorders to focus on a single task. Its upbeat vibes can also temporarily relieve the symptoms of mild to moderate stress and depression. Physiologically speaking, Kriss Kross may dull pain, whether it’s temporary, as due to injury, or chronic, as due to conditions like lupus. Some anti-inflammatory properties, meanwhile, can take care of everyday irritations like headaches or cramps. Because its strong cerebral character can easily turn into paranoia in the wrong set and setting, Kriss Kross is not recommended for patients who are prone to panic or who have a low THC tolerance.

Seeds of Kriss Kross are not available for sale online. Instead, prospective home growers should obtain clippings that can be grown as genetically identical “clones.” It can be grown indoors or outdoors in a semi-humid, Mediterranean-like climate. The strain’s primarily sativa characteristics suggest that its plants grow tall and brawny and may need occasional pruning to fit in limited indoor grow spaces. Kriss Kross flowers within 9 to 10 weeks when cultivated indoors.

While very popular in the Pacific Northwest, Kriss Kross may be difficult to find elsewhere. Its even-handed effects make it a great option for indica and sativa lovers alike.
