About Jupiter OG
Jupiter OG is an interesting hybrid strain of cannabis that is Indica-dominant in nature. The original breeder that first crossed this strain has been lost to history. However, we do know that Jupiter OG is a member of a “celestial group” of OG phenotypes that were bred during the 1990’s. These OG phenotypes are all named after the celestial bodies in the night sky. Perhaps through cloning, Jupiter OG’s genetics have remained the same over the last 30 years. This strain contains an average THC concentration of 20% which puts it in the high-mid tier. In addition, Jupiter OG also contains a considerable amount of CBD, which often ends up in a ratio of 1:12 for CBD:THC.
Jupiter OG nugs are oversized, much like its namesake planet. These incredibly dense and round buds contain a variety of hues to be admired. The base color of the flower is often olive or mint-green, but it contains a number of dark purple and violet undertones. In addition to purples and greens, you should easily spot this flower’s webbing of orange pistils. Jupiter OG is often covered in a heaping of off-white trichomes, and on occasion, a sticky resin layer.
Specific data regarding the growth of Jupiter OG is pretty hard to come by, but there’s definitely some tangible and reliable information about this strain out there somewhere! This strain is probably the most generous plant out of all the other celestial OG phenotypes. Jupiter OG can be grown indoors or outdoors. Indoors, it flowers between 65-70 days, yielding 12-16 ounces per square meter of plant. Outdoors, Jupiter OG has been reported to yield upwards of 20 ounces per plants. However, the optimal harvest month isn’t known to growers which can affect yields outdoors.
Much like its namesake, the effects of Jupiter OG seem to be larger-than-life. The THC concentration alone on this plant is enough to make you say “wow” as it can reach as high as 24%! Because Jupiter OG is Indica-leaning, many have found that its powerful body effects have been exactly what they need to get their relaxation on. The overwhelming power of this strain is often exactly what some users need to escape physical pain and retreat to the comfort of sleep. Medical patients have found that Jupiter OG’s effects are great at treating symptoms including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and stress.
The jars I buy of this say it's a cross of Chemdawg#4 and Goliath. It smells of citrus and wine to me. Nice, bright head effect - a ribbon of light that goes on for a long while. I've had this as high as 32% and the effect develops marvelously, but there's no getting around it or coming down for a minute. You are ON JUPITER my friend. Even at 18% it hits hard and sticks around, but it's usually sitting around 25-28% when I buy it. Jupiter's high is more than manageable for me though, quite comfortable actually. At this moment it's my favorite strain, and that's coming from a guy who still remembers smoking contender Granddaddy Purple out of a hookah somewhere in St. Louis back in '08, so it's no joke.
