Duncan is a city in, and the county seat of, Stephens County, Oklahoma. The site of the town was chosen for its prime location along the Chisholm Trail, a historic passage used for driving cattle after the Civil War. The town’s past, and the greater history of the Chisholm Trail are collected in the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center. The city’s other claim to fame is being the birthplace of the Haliburton Corporation, which has since moved its headquarters to Texas, but maintains a large presence in Duncan to this day. Train Enthusiasts will find the Rock Island 905 Railroad Depot, Museum and Gift Shop interesting, featuring a genuine 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive and replica 1892 train depot.
