Cambridge is a city in Dorchester County, Maryland, United States. Settled by English colonists in 1684, Cambridge is one of the oldest colonial cities in Maryland. Cambridge was the inspiration of the fictional town Patamoke in James Michener's novel, Chesapeake. In the book, Patamoke is located on a fictitious promontory on the Choptank River, opposite of Cambridge's actual location.
